Steven is made up (predominately) of elipses and cylindrical shapes. The principles of his design can be applied to all other character’s in the show regardless. Where lines are ending they almost always taper off, but some lines have a hard finish.Over all, it’s a pretty erratic line art style which is hard to sum up or clarify, except for the fact that the inner lines are thinner than the outer lines.Īll the character’s in Steven Universe are made out of simple, big, blocky shapes, but for the sake of keeping this post simple, let’s just focus on Steven for now. The inner and outer lines do not however have a specific width, and the lines taper in places, growing wider or becoming thinner. The line work of the Steven Universe style is often quite thick for the character’s outline, but then for the smaller details within the character’s shape the lines are thinner (like Steven’s fly, nose, mouth, eyes and eyebrows.
